The textbook definition of the word “becoming” is the process of coming to be something. It is further described as a philosophy, or a way of viewing all that exists around and within us. At the Becoming Grace Foundation, we hold the term close to our hearts, for that something” symbolizes the journey that survivors of domestic violence take.

Domestic violence is an overlooked epidemic in our society and continues to affect individuals and families in many different demographics. Choosing “Becoming” as a core theme offers us a powerful lens through which we can better understand the emotional demands of healing, the fight to remain resilient, and having faith in a future that seems unreachable. These are just a few of the obstacles survivors may face in their journey, and though we cannot fully remove all of them, we want to face them with you.

The journey may begin with pain, but it can end in power and strength. “Becoming” is representative of your future, and the endless possibilities. It holds no room for a past that brought hurt, confusion, or suffering. It is a reflection of the bravery it takes to step away from the shadows of abuse.

Our goal is to help survivors become their true and happiest selves. Between making the decision to leave a hurtful situation, and the resources our team and the community provides, we hope to walk alongside you on that journey, and witness as you become educated, become inspired, and become a voice that calls for change.

We believe that every woman and child have the ability to become something greater than their circumstances; the ability to become healed, empowered, hopeful, and feel whole again. Above all, we believe in becoming stronger together.
